Central Drugs Standard Control Organization, Government of India has been mandated to ensure that the drugs being manufactured and imported into the country meet the standards of quality, safety and efficacy. This has led to the Government being proactive and taking various decisions of banning the drugs and FDCs which are found to be of questionable safety and efficacy profiles based upon internal assessment, global and Indian clinical data and expert recommendations. The drugs which are banned are notified to general public by the means of various gazette notifications. No firm or individual can import or manufacture these drugs for sale in India.
As the number of notifications are too many and at times are difficult to find on CDSCO website, we have published the complete list of banned drugs on our portal in an easy searchable format. The present list of banned drugs is updated as on 21.03.2025. The list of banned drugs is as follows:

(c) The manufacturer shall advise the registered medical practitioners to administer or prescribe the said drug and its formulations for use in patients with cancer pain only.
* – As per Hon’ble Supreme Court order dated 15.12.2017, the list of 03 FDCs were claimed prior to 1988. The matter is still under examination in consultation with Expert Committee.

¥ – The Notification of S.O. No. 705 (E) dated 10.03.2016 [S.O. No. 4379 (E) dated 07.09.2018] was quashed by Hon’ble Delhi High Court vide its order dated 13.03.2019. The CDSCO has filed an appeal against the order dated 13.03.2019 and the matter is sub judice.
The Notification of S.O. No. 760 (E) dated 10.03.2016 [S.O. No. 4429 (E) dated 07.09.2018] was quashed by Hon’ble Delhi High Court vide its order dated 18.02.2019 The CDSCO has filed an appeal against the order dated 18.02.2019 and the matter is sub judice.
The Notification of S.O. No. 806 (E) dated 10.03.2016 [S.O. No. 4471 (E) dated 07.09.2018] & S.O. No. 807 (E) dated 10.03.2016 [S.O. No. 4472 (E) dated 07.09.2018] were quashed by Hon’ble Delhi High Court vide its order dated 13.02.2019. The CDSCO has filed an appeal against the order dated 13.03.2019 and the matter is sub judice.
The Notification of S.O. No. 814 (E) dated 10.03.2016 [S.O. No. 4479 (E) dated 07.09.2018] was quashed by Hon’ble Delhi High Court vide its order dated 22.02.2019. The CDSCO has filed an appeal against the order dated 22.02.2019 and the matter is sub judice.
! – (i) Naproxen shall be in an enteric coated form.
(ii) The FDC shall be indicated in adults for the symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, in patients who are at risk for developing non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)- associated gastric and/or duodenal ulcers, to reduce the risk of developing gastric and duodenal ulcers and as per treatment guidelines.
(iii) Bioequivalence of this FDC shall be demonstrated with the internationally available innovator’s FDC within one year time.

However, this may be noted that any manufacturer who intends to manufacture these drugs for export to other countries as per the requirements of specific country may take an Export NOC from State Licensing Authority followed by product permission and manufacture the same for export purpose only.
